Whether you have been studying diligently for years with aspirations of a concert career or you are just beginning to unlock the magic of the guitar, through my lessons you will become an accomplished guitarist and a well rounded musician who understands the language of music.

Each creative personality will follow a path which is unique to them, by building a strong musical foundation you will be able to explore any type of music you wish.

Repertoire - Learning music which excites you is the focal point of my teaching and ultimately the reason we choose to study an instrument.

Technical - The ability to move around your instrument effectively cannot be left to chance scales, arpeggios, exercises and etudes will be used to ensure a fluid technic is acquired.

Composition/ improvisation - Learning music which you admire is great, equally rewarding is creating your own music. From the simple to the complex you will learn how to express your own creative voice.

Musicianship - Music theory, visualization, playing by ear, reading traditional music notation/tablature, and Solfege (do, re, mi) are powerful tools which deepen our musical awareness and sensitivity, ultimately building a highly capable musician.

As a child I began studying piano, violin, saxophone and later the guitar. With most of my life spent studying music there are few genres I have not explored from blues to classical and everything in between. In addition to teaching guitar lessons, I am a music theory teacher for Portland Youth Philharmonic and a tutor for undergraduate/graduate music students, specializing in master’s exit examination preparation. I obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Portland State University and have completed master’s course work in advanced Conducting, advanced orchestration, history and orchestral literature. When I am not teaching, composing or studying the musical masters of the past, I enjoy spending time in nature, surfing or playing with my miniature schnauzer Muroo.

Typical months consist of 4 weekly lessons. Months containing a 5th week are optional.
